Al-Marsad sent a letter to the Israeli occupation authorities, demanding they cease damaging the environment and forests in the occupied Syrian territories following the fall of the Assad regime.
In its letter, the Al-Marsad explained that trees cutting carried out by the occupation forces in the occupied Syrian territories after the fall of the Assad regime violates international law, including specific treaties and conventions such as the Geneva Conventions and UN resolutions, and must be stopped. Al-Marsad emphasized that international law prohibits causing widespread, continuous, and significant damage to the environment, and forbids the use of military means and methods that aim to, or are likely to result in, such damage. Al-Marsad stressed in its letter that preserving the environment and nature has become a global principle within international efforts to combat global warming, which is causing extensive damage worldwide, including in our region.
