Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel and Al-Marsad – Arab Human Rights Centre in the Golan Heights sent a letter to senior Israeli officials on 30 July 2017 demanding that they evacuate Israeli military outposts and minefields from the occupied Syrian town of Majdal Shams located in the Golan Heights.
Al-Marsad, in coalition with 15 organizations, including human rights groups, an academic institution, and a trade union, submission of an emergency appeal to various United Nations experts demanding they intervene immediately to protect human rights in the occupied Syrian Golan.
In July and August 2016, Al-Marsad was in correspondence with Lonely Planet regarding its misrepresentation of the Occupied Syrian Golan as part of Israel on its website and guidebook: ‘Israel & the Palestinian Territories’.
In June 2016, Al-Marsad wrote to Google to inform it that Google Maps no longer shows the names of the destroyed Syrian villages in the Occupied Syrian Golan, and, instead, only shows the names of the illegal Israeli settlements built on their ruins.
Occupied Syrian Golan is “occupied territory, and its inhabitants are under occupation and are considered protected peoples…the oil is property that cannot be exploited, and doing so would be considered a war crime under the Rome Statute.”
